1st Year Welcome

Hi,

Congratulations on reaching University. On behalf of the Students’ Union, I’d like to warmly welcome you to NUI Maynooth, your University of choice.

Coming to the 3rd level is a big step and you may be unsure as to what lies ahead in your forthcoming time here, but I can assure you that you’re embarking on what promises to be some of the most educating, enjoyable and inspiring years of your life. You’ll be here for only a few years, and the time will pass you by before you know it, so why not make the most of it. Your coming to University to get a degree at the end of the day but the University experience doesn’t end their. Resident Clubs & Societies around the campus are a ready outlet in meeting new people and doing new things.

Many of you will have moved out from home for the first time, and it can be a disconcerting experience especially at the beginning of your time here. All things come in due course be they making friends, relationships, using that washing machine or finally realising it’s really not that hard to cook. You should remember you’re in the same boat as everyone else and we’ve been there too, so have no fear and expand your horizons. If in doubt and have any questions, problems, suggestions drop into the Student Union offices and we’ll do our utmost to help you out.

The Students’ Union is here to protect and promote student rites, and represent students both inside and outside NUI Maynooth and sit on various governing bodies.
The Students’ Union also provides services like the cheapest photocopying/ binding on campus and student travel cards. The Students’ Union is run for the students by the students, where we need your voice and your support where involvement is crucial.
