Clubs Officer
Well you’ve made it and welcome to the Maynooth ‘’experience’’ which you would probably have heard about when looking into Maynooth as one of your options. Well done on getting in and get ready for the craic to begin. To survive freshers I recommend arming yourselves with the following provisions, Beer, hangover tablets, baked beans, bread, a spoon and a Mexican wrestler named José.
I’ve been in college for 5 years now and am finally in 3rd year Science, I may have partied a little too hard but sure it’s too late to change anything. This is my 3rd year on the exec and I can honestly say that my involvement in clubs, societies and the union as a whole has been the most rewarding part of my college experience. I’ve tried pretty much whatever was on offer, Paintball (which is amazing by the way), fencing, archery, drama, comedy, outdoor pursuits, games, rugby and many more and with each thing I tried I met more people and gained more friends.
In all seriousness the best way to enjoy yourself is to get involved guys, this period of your lives will go by in a flash and its very easy to miss out on it. So get involved and try everything out that you can even if you think that it’s not really for you, who knows you may end up loving it. I’ll see you all on Clubs and Socs Day and don’t forget to bring a fist full of €2 coins. Also there will be plenty of postions opening up on the committees of all the clubs and socs to get in the new active first years so grab your spot and get learning as in a few years one of you will be sitting down to write one of these spiels for the incoming first years.
